Meet the Staff of eTaxes.com

Steven H. Kassel, EA Founder, President & CEO

Steve Kassel left the IRS in 1992 after serving five years as a Revenue Officer in San Jose. Steve got his Enrolled Agent (EA) license shortly thereafter. He founded eTaxes.com in January 1993 (known previously as IRSTaxes.com & Taxes.com). eTaxes.com is devoted exclusively to the representation of taxpayers with unpaid or unfiled taxes.

In 1997, Steve was flown to Washington at government expense and testified on Capitol Hill on IRS problems before The National Commission on Restructuring the Internal Revenue Service. The Restructuring Commission’s recommendations became the framework for the historic IRS Restructuring & Reform Act that was signed into law by the President in 1998.

Steve is frequently quoted by the media on IRS problems. Steve has appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America & Fox News Channel’s The O’Reilly Factor. He has been quoted by numerous print publications including the New York Times, Worth magazine, CNNfn.com and many others.

Steve wrote a comprehensive article on the IRS Offer in Compromise program for the largest association of tax professionals in the country, the National Association of Enrolled Agents.

Steve was the Republican candidate for the California 19th Assembly District seat in November 2000 and was defeated by the incumbent office holder.

Steve is a 1983 graduate of the University of Maryland where he served as student manager for the nationally ranked men’s basketball team (and won the 2002 NCAA National Championship). He lives with his wife and two sons in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Henry (TA) Taro, EA

TA spent 26 years as a Revenue Officer in the Central California IRS District. He is incredibly diligent and hard working. He spent several years working on “the dark side” for the nation’s largest tax representation firm, but he came over to work for the good guys in 2004. TA works out of an office in Carson City, Nevada.

We had tried to hire TA for several years and we are elated that it has finally worked out.

Chris Jacquez, EA

Chris Jacquez joined eTaxes.com in 2005. Chris has been an Enrolled Agent since October 2002 and has been a tax professional for over nine years. He specializes in Income tax compliance and planning for Individuals and small businesses, but also has a broad range of experience in other areas of tax.

Over the past nine years, Christopher has successfully built and operated his own tax practice, as well as provided valuable support for established CPA firms throughout the city of San Francisco and the Silicon Valley. In addition to tax compliance and planning, his background includes handling IRS tax resolution matters, including levy and wage garnishment releases, filing for offers in compromise and preparing multiple year past due returns.

Cathy Kassel, Vice President, Sales & Marketing

Without sales, there would be no business and Cathy Kassel is responsible for the marketing and sales of eTaxes.com. On a very limited budget, Cathy has managed to consistently bring in business far in excess of what would ordinarily be expected.

Brianna Engler, Executive Assistant

Handling tax problems is nothing for Brianna, who spent two years as a State Humane Officer prior to joining eTaxes.com in 2004. In addition to keeping Steve Kassel in line, answering the phones and running the office, Brianna assists with the preparation of tax returns. Brianna is well-qualified to do so, having worked three years for a CPA firm.

Brianna is often the first person you’ll talk to and her fabulous interpersonal skills are a great fit for the job.
